12月21日,惠普公司Printing and Imaging Technology Lab.的两位高级研究人员访问复旦大学,他们的这次中国之行是为了寻找最佳合作机会,以便在光信息处理、颜色科学、纳米科技、新材料等领域开展共同感兴趣的合作研究.
在同复旦大学信息学院部分教授的座谈会中,他们说:The main
focus of ourtrip to China is to explore possibilities and
opportunities in China that will enable joint R&D activities
for the next couple of years initially. We would like to get
in touch with a few top universities and industrial research
and development institutions in Beijing and Shanghai areas
and to start building long term relationships.
他们比较感兴趣的考察方向主要是在材料科学方面, 以及光学、化学、物理等具体领域,他们表示非常愿意了解并同中国高校的如下相关院系教授建立联系:Department of electronic engineering, in
the area of image processing,Department of precision
instruments and mechanical engineering in nano-research area,
Department of micro-electronics and nano-electronics,College
of Software Technology as well as department of physics,以
及Department of chemistry in organic synthesis and pigments。
这两位惠普高级研究员分别为:Yang Chung-Ching博士和Gao Jun先生:Yang Chung-Ching holds a Ph.D. and M.S. degree in Physics
of Condensed Matters from Harvard University, and a BS in EE
from UCLA. He spent 13 years with Xerox Research Centers,
working on a variety of printing and marking technologies,
and 21 years at HP Labs on a number of technologies, inclu-
ding e-beam lithography, high speed electronic packaging,
magneto-optic recording, atomic resolution storage and
recently nano-crystal hybrid emissive display.
Gao Jun graduated from Department of Electrical
Engineering, Tsinghua University in 1988 and got his M. Sc.
Degree from Canada in 1995. Jun then worked as a SW/FW
engineer for Nortel Networks for 5 years, project manager
for ATI technology Inc. for about a year before joined HP
Labs in 1997. For the last nine years, Jun worked under John
Meyer's Printing and Imaging Technology Lain varieties of
research and development projects. Jun had published 13
papers in different journals, most significantly in Applied
Physics, and holds 6 US/International patents and 23 more
pending in application process.
