CFOL:How about the business now? What about the position of Alcatel China market?
Michel: It is OK, not very bad. Revenue from China now takes 6% in the whole, we hope after 3 to 5 years, we can increase this share to 15%

CFOL:How do you think of China Market?
Michel: It is promising.

CFOL:How do you evaluate your business in China? Do Alcatel have any further plan to expand China market?
Michel: We have an office in Shenzhen, who manages not bad. We will continue focusing on those key customers, say Huawei,ZTE and Fiberhome,etc. I do not think our marketing in China is weak. Our strategy is to focus on those key customers. For further plan, up now I can only say we have not any plan to build any factory or an R&D center in China, now we hope to find more FAE engineers for our work.

Michel:我们有一个办事处在深圳,业绩还不错。我们将继续执行重点开拓大客户的政策。这些大客户比如说华为、中兴和烽火等等。我想我们在中国的市场力量不弱。我们的一贯策略是优先发展主要客户。就更长远的计划来说,无论是在中国修建工厂还是设立研发中心,我现在都不能说有。未来会怎么样还要看。眼下我们希望寻找更多的FAE工程师加入我们的工作。
CFOL:How do you think of the competing advantage for Alcatel Optronics?
Michel: Long history, advanced technology, International company, I think all these are Alcatel Optronic’s advantage. Comparing to US companies, I think Chinese will prefer to choose a company from Europe, France is a country welcomed by Chinese. Alcatel have many good products like pump laser, 10G transceivers.

Michel:历史的悠久、先进的科技、国际性的公司,我想所有的这些都是阿尔卡特光电子的优势所在。跟美国公司相比,我想很多中国人宁可选择一个欧洲公司。法国是一个非常受中国人欢迎的国度。阿尔卡特有很多非常好的产品,比如泵浦激光器、10G光收发器等。
CFOL:Who are your major competitors in China? Do you feel threatening by local company?
Michel: Before it should be Agere, now they gave up their fiberoptics business. I think maybe some Japanese Companies Like Fujitsu, Shimitomo are major competitors to Alcatel in Chinese market. Local companies focus on passive components or low end components, that will have no rivalry.

Michel:我想以前最大的竞争者是Agere,现在他们退出了光器件行业。不算他们,我想竞争对手可能来自一些日本的公司吧,比如富士通、住友。他们将会成为阿尔卡特在中国市场的主要竞争对手。目前中国本土公司的产品还集中在无源和低端产品,暂时对阿尔卡特不构成威胁。
CFOL:How do you think of the components developing trend?
Michel: I think it should be integration, Alcatel are integrating passive and active components together. That must be the trend of technology developing.

CFOL:Recently there are quite a few sayings about Alcatel giving up component business. Will Alcatel Optronics be sold out?
Michel: Definitely not, it is only rumour. We will not give up fibre optics business.

CFOL:How you view the fibre business? Is it at the bottom now?
Michel: Oh, I do not know really, I think it should be next year, our business can return back. Maybe next year.
