Silicon Photonics is passing its tipping point according to many experts in this field. The technology shows great promise not only in communication industry, but also in national defense, medical instruments, consumer electronics. In 20 years, Silicon Photonic’s market will reach 33 billion US dollars according to Sanjay Jha, CEO of Global Foundry.

China is one of the fiber optics industry centers around the world with nearly one third of the optical component industry’s revenue from great China area. China will not step behind in silicon photonic field. Not only many universities and research institute make huge investment in this technology and achieve many good results, silicon photonic industry is emerging in China. Start up companies on silicon photonics like Sioptics,, Lightsemi, LaXense made their start, Big names like Huawei, ZTE, Fiberhome build their silicon photonic teams including hundreds of engineers, Some component companies like Accelink, Hisense already have their silicon photonics concept product. Foreign companies like Siphotonics, Luxtera, Mellanox etc come to China to build their R&D center or to look for manufacturing partners.

During this year’s CIOE, CFOL and Sioptics will invite leading organizations, companies, researchers around the world in silicon photonics field to our summit in Shenzhen.
